THE SIERRA DE GREDOS AND ITS INFLUENCE
ALTITUDE
The Sierra de Gredos is a mountain range with significant elevations. San Martín de Valdeiglesias lies in the foothills of this range, which means that its altitude affects local climatic conditions. Areas at higher altitudes tend to have lower temperatures.
INCREASED CLIMATE VARIABILITY
Mountain areas tend to experience greater climatic variability, with abrupt changes in weather conditions. In San Martín de Valdeiglesias, this translates into rapid changes in temperature and the possibility of more intense and variable rainfall.
INFLUENCE ON PRECIPITATION
The Sierra de Gredos acts as a natural barrier that affects the distribution of rainfall. In general, mountain areas tend to receive more rainfall than areas at lower altitudes. This provides a greater amount of rainfall in San Martín de Valdeiglesias compared to regions further away from the sierra.

SOIL ACIDITY
Granite produces slightly acidic soils. The acidity of the soil affects the pH of the grapes, which influences the acidity profile of the wine. This higher acidity can be desirable, especially in grape varieties that benefit from a more pronounced acidity.
CHARACTER OF THE TERROIR
Wines produced on granitic soils exhibit specific characteristics associated with this type of soil such as minerality and salinity, these characteristics bring distinction and uniqueness to their wines.
NATIVE VARIETIES

ALBILLO REAL
Early ripening. Small, very compact, cylindrical cluster. The wines they produce usually have a certain alcohol content, which gives them a special complexity. High aromatic level. Floral and fruity aromas (citrus, apricot).

GARNACHA TINTA
Late ripening. The Garnacha vines are upright and have medium-sized conical clusters, normally compact. Aromas of red fruits (strawberries, cherries, blackberries).

MOSCATEL DE GRANO MENUDO
The Moscatel de Grano Menudo is considered one of the oldest grape varieties that still exist. A grape variety that tends to produce low yields. Its name comes from the characteristic small size of the berry and its tight clusters.
