Back in the early twentieth century, our grandfather Don Ramiro Ocaña replanted, throughout the region, the vineyards that were destroyed by the phylloxera plague. Some of those vineyards are still productive today. With extensive knowledge of the land, the Ocaña family regained some of them, after many vicissitudes.
One hundred years later, those same vineyards are the base of Bodegas ValleYglesias to make our wines. In this poor, rocky, steep land our ancestors worked for so long. Is here when it starts to take form the dream of waking tradition and enthusiasm for these vineyards that have given us so much over the centuries.
It is in 2001 when the activity of the winery begins with a low production and high quality policy. The 500 bottles of red Garnacha that were sold in the first year were produced locally. The production has been increased little by little during these years, always looking for the best quality. Nowadays we sale around 8,000 bottles per year and 75% of them are sold locally.
